WinRAR Repair Tool to Fix RAR Files and Corrupted (.rar) Archives
Fix a WinRAR Corrupt File and "The Archive Is Corrupted" Errors
Recovery Toolbox for RAR is a dedicated WinRAR repair tool for Windows computers and laptops designed to fix RAR files and restore damaged archives with the .rar extension. When users encounter a WinRAR corrupt file or critical extraction alerts like The archive is corrupted, this specialized RAR repair tool performs an automated WinRAR repair without modifying the original source container. Built to repair RAR archives across all compression versions, the software streamlines RAR recovery by deep-scanning broken structures to repair a RAR file, extracting intact items alongside recoverable file fragments, and saving them separately onto your local disk.
How to Use Our RAR Repair Tool for Fast WinRAR Recovery on Windows
The repair instruction for the repairing of files from corrupted *.rar files of WinRAR on Windows PC:
- Download Recovery Toolbox for RAR from here: https://rar.recoverytoolbox.com/download/RecoveryToolboxForRARInstall.exe
- Install Recovery Toolbox for RAR on your computer
- Start Recovery Toolbox for RAR
- Selecting a damaged RAR archive
- Selecting files and folders what you want to save
- Selecting a folder where the repaired information will be saved
Recovery Toolbox for RAR analyses the internal structure of a damaged WinRAR archive and its compressed data to identify recoverable file entries and extract their contents. CRC32 checksum validation, where the necessary checksum information remains available, helps assess the integrity of recovered data by comparing the calculated checksum against the value recorded in the RAR archive.
The demo version includes the analysis results. Each detected file receives a colour-coded recovery status:
- Blue — the file is assessed as fully recoverable, with no integrity errors detected during analysis.
- Yellow — partial recovery is possible; the extracted file may contain incomplete or corrupted data.
Red — the utility cannot recover the file from the available archive data.
The recovery process operates on the source archive in read-only mode. Recovered content is decompressed and saved as separate files to a user-selected destination, preserving the directory hierarchy wherever the corresponding archive metadata can be recovered. The original RAR file remains unchanged throughout the operation. Password-protected archives can also be processed when the user manually supplies the correct password.
Before saving, the preview interface displays the detected directory tree and file entries, allowing users to inspect the archive’s recoverable contents and select individual files or folders. The registered version then saves the selected items, enabling targeted recovery without extracting the entire archive.
How to fix WinRAR files

Questions and Answers: RAR Archive Recovery
Salvage receipts from an archive on a counterfeit USB drive
Question: I stored a .rar collection of scanned receipts on a USB drive advertised as 512 GB, using WinRAR 6.23 on my Windows 11 23H2 desktop. After I added more folders, the older archive developed CRC failures even though its reported size stayed the same. A capacity test showed that the drive had far less real storage and had overwritten earlier data, but I already have a copied archive on my internal SSD. Could a damaged archive repair tool retrieve any readable receipts from that copy?
Answer: A damaged archive repair tool can look for surviving receipts, but it cannot reconstruct compressed data overwritten by later writes. Counterfeit capacity can cause those writes to replace older blocks while directory entries retain plausible names and sizes. Retire the counterfeit device and preserve the archive already copied to your healthy SSD. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR, then choose a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, select only files and folders marked in blue, or click Check good. With the full, licensed version, select a new output folder on healthy storage and press Next to save the selected items. Review which receipts saved successfully on the final page. Inspect their dates, amounts, and vendor names before adding the recovered scans to your expense records.
Extract photographs from an archive copied off a damaged DVD
Question: I copied a .rar archive of wedding photos from an old backup DVD onto my Windows 10 22H2 desktop, where I use WinRAR 6.24. Several photos fail CRC checks, and the disc has scratches and cloudy patches around its outer edge. I have set the DVD aside because I do not want repeated copying attempts to make matters worse. Can I fix a corrupted archive in WinRAR, or should I try another extraction method on the local copy I already obtained?
Answer: You may be unable to fix a corrupted archive in WinRAR if disc damage prevented some compressed bytes from reaching the local copy. Recovery Toolbox for RAR offers a separate attempt to extract surviving photographs rather than reconstructing missing DVD data. Set the disc aside and arrange specialist acquisition if you must read more data from its damaged surface. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on Windows, then select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only blue-marked files and folders, or use Check good. With the full, licensed version, choose a new output folder on healthy storage and click Next to save. Review successful saves on the final page. Inspect the recovered wedding photos individually for missing sections, colour damage, and sufficient resolution for printing.
Recover accounting files after an external drive is dropped.
Question: I dropped an external hard drive while it was connected to my Windows 11 24H2 laptop, which runs WinRAR 6.23. After the drive began clicking, a specialist copied a .rar archive of business records to a healthy disk, but several accounting spreadsheets still fail to extract. I have left the damaged drive disconnected and need to keep the client records private. Should I try to repair a RAR online, or can I extract surviving spreadsheets locally from the specialist's copy?
Answer: You don't need to repair a RAR online to extract from the specialist's copy; Recovery Toolbox for RAR works locally on Windows. Impact damage can leave some archive blocks incomplete, and the utility cannot correct the physical drive's condition. Keep the dropped drive powered off, preserve the supplied archive, and download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on stable storage. On the first page, select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only files and folders marked in blue, or press Check good. With the full, licensed version, choose a new folder on healthy storage and click Next to save the selected spreadsheets. Review the successful saves on the final page. Open the workbooks and check their worksheets and accounting figures before relying on them for client reporting.
Retrieve renderings after a faulty power connection interrupts writing.
Question: My external drive repeatedly disconnected while WinRAR 6.24 was creating an archive of architectural renderings on my Windows 11 23H2 desktop. A technician found a loose power connector in the enclosure, and I now have the incomplete .rar file copied onto a healthy internal drive. WinRAR lists the rendering names but cannot finish extracting several images I need for a client meeting. How can I repair a RAR file after interrupted writes and retrieve the renderings that remain intact?
Answer: Before trying to repair a RAR file, resolve the power or connection fault so it cannot interrupt another recovery attempt. A dropped connection can leave readable file headers even when the corresponding compressed image data was never fully written. Save the incomplete archive, then download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on your stable Windows desktop. Select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the resulting preview, select only blue-marked files and folders, or click Check good. In the full, licensed version, choose a new destination folder on healthy storage and press Next to save your selections. Review successful saves on the final page, then open the recovered renderings to check for missing regions or visible corruption. Export usable images separately for the meeting while keeping the source archive available for comparison.
Recover tax documents after filesystem metadata damage.
Question: The exFAT external drive connected to my Windows 10 22H2 laptop started showing missing entries and incorrect folder names after filesystem metadata corruption. A technician recovered a .rar archive of tax documents onto another healthy drive, but WinRAR 5.91 now reports damaged headers when I try to extract the PDFs. I have preserved that recovered archive because the original paperwork is unavailable. Do I need to repair WinRAR files online, or can I check and extract this confidential material directly on my laptop?
Answer: You can keep the tax documents on your laptop instead of attempting to repair WinRAR files online. Damaged filesystem metadata may point a familiar filename to incomplete or incorrect archive content, even when File Explorer displays a plausible size. Save the technician's recovered file, then download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR locally on Windows. On the first page, select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar archive and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only files and folders highlighted in blue, or use Check good. With the full, licensed version, specify a new destination folder on healthy storage and click Next to save. Review successful saves on the final page and open the PDFs to confirm that their pages and tax figures are readable. The application assesses archive content; repairing the underlying filesystem requires separate attention.
Extract research tables after allocation records are lost.
Question: A storage specialist recovered my research archive after an external drive lost file allocation records, and I am examining the supplied copy on a Windows 11 23H2 desktop with WinRAR 6.23. The report says several .rar fragments could not be located, although the recovered file retains its familiar name and approximately its expected size. Extraction stops before a folder of measurement tables needed for my analysis. Can I fix a corrupted WinRAR archive when fragments are missing, or retrieve any complete tables from the surviving sections?
Answer: You may not be able to fix a corrupted WinRAR archive when fragments are missing, but complete files in the surviving sections can still be worth extracting. Lost allocation records can leave a convincing directory entry without all the archive data it originally referenced. Preserve the specialist's supplied file, make a working duplicate, and download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on Windows. Choose the damaged .rar duplicate on the first page and start automatic analysis. On the preview page, select only blue-marked files and folders, or use Check good. In the full, licensed version, choose a new output folder on healthy storage and click Next to save the selected tables. Review successful saves on the final page. Open the recovered tables and compare their rows, units, and date ranges with surviving instrument logs before using them in calculations.
Recover audio sessions from incorrectly mapped archive fragments.
Question: My .rar archive of audio sessions stopped extracting after damaged volume metadata was reconstructed, and I am testing the exported file with WinRAR 6.24 on a Windows 11 24H2 workstation. The storage specialist says the archive's disk extents were mapped in the wrong sequence, so its size looks right even though some byte ranges are out of order. I have a stable copy on a separate disk. How can I fix corrupted RAR files affected by that mapping problem and retrieve usable session files?
Answer: To fix corrupted RAR files affected by extent mapping, a storage specialist may need to reconstruct the correct byte sequence or locate a better source copy. An archive extraction tool can still assess the existing export for independently readable files without correcting the disk mapping. Save that export, then download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on a stable Windows computer. On the first page, select a working copy of the damaged .rar file and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only blue-marked files and folders, or press Check good. Using the full, licensed version, select a new folder on healthy storage and click Next to save the selected entries. Review successful saves on the final page and load the recovered projects in their audio software. Check that tracks, media references, and session timing survive before continuing work.
Retrieve scans from a RAR shortened after CHKDSK.
Question: My WinRAR archive is corrupt after CHKDSK repaired filesystem errors on the external drive attached to my Windows 10 22H2 desktop. I use WinRAR 5.91, and the .rar file of scanned legal records is now noticeably smaller than before the repair and ends unexpectedly during extraction. I copied the shortened archive onto a healthy disk and have kept it unchanged. How can I extract any complete documents from this copy without losing the remaining readable scans?
Answer: Because your WinRAR archive is corrupt and shorter after the filesystem repair, it may have lost data when it discarded or truncated invalid file chains. Check for a pre-repair backup, but preserve the shortened copy if it is your only current source. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on your Windows desktop. On the first page, select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file from the healthy disk and begin automatic analysis. In the preview, select only files and folders marked in blue, or click Check good. With the full, licensed version, choose a new destination folder on healthy storage and click Next to save. Review the final page for successful saves, then inspect each recovered scan for complete pages, readable signatures, and the relevant case number. This copy is missing the archive tail and will need a backup or another source.
Recover manufacturing drawings after a faulty RAID rebuild.
Question: Our NAS completed a RAID rebuild, but a .rar archive of manufacturing drawings now fails CRC checks on my Windows 11 23H2 desktop running WinRAR 6.23. The administrator suspects that the replacement controller used an incorrect disk order and supplied a stable exported copy while specialists investigate the array. That copy lists folders, but several drawings will not extract. How can I fix a corrupted RAR file from this export and recover usable drawings without making additional changes to the RAID?
Answer: Before fixing a corrupted RAR file, keep the administrator's stable export separate from the array being investigated. Incorrect RAID parameters, controller faults, or damaged member data can return the wrong archive bytes, even if the file size looks plausible. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on a healthy Windows computer; this application does not rebuild RAID disks or correct their order. Select a working copy of the damaged .rar export on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only files and folders marked in blue, or use Check good. In the full, licensed version, choose a new output folder on healthy local storage and click Next to save. Review successful saves on the final page. Open the recovered drawings in their native application and verify dimensions, layers, and referenced parts before sending them to production.
Extract database exports from an archive on a damaged virtual disk.
Question: I use WinRAR 6.24 inside a Windows 11 24H2 virtual machine on my desktop to archive monthly database exports. After the host crashed, the VM's virtual disk required recovery, and a technician copied the .rar file onto a healthy host drive. Even on that drive, the archive appears corrupt in WinRAR, and extraction stops before it saves several database files. How can I recover usable exports from the supplied copy without remounting the damaged virtual disk?
Answer: If the archive appears corrupt in WinRAR after virtual-disk recovery, damaged data blocks or mapping records may have affected the guest file. Keep working from the technician's existing host-side copy, and handle any further virtual-disk investigation separately. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on a stable Windows system. Choose a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, select only blue-marked files and folders, or click Check good. With the full, licensed version, choose a new output folder on healthy storage and press Next to save the selected exports. Check the final page for successful saves, then validate the database files with their normal tools or by importing them into an isolated database. A completed save does not by itself establish that an export is complete or internally consistent.
Retrieve artwork from an inconsistent storage backup.
Question: I restored a .rar collection of marketing artwork from a storage backup kept in an iCloud Drive folder to my Windows 11 23H2 laptop. WinRAR 6.23 now reports CRC failures in several artwork folders, and the backup job log says the original storage snapshot was incomplete. My old working disk has been replaced, so this restored file is the only copy I currently have. How can I repair a RAR archive from an inconsistent backup and extract any intact designs?
Answer: An inconsistent backup can restore archive records from one state while some compressed content is missing or belongs to another state. Before repairing a RAR archive, save this restored version and check whether another complete backup generation exists. Download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on your Windows laptop. On the first page, select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file and start automatic analysis. At the preview stage, choose only files and folders highlighted in blue, or use Check good. In the full, licensed version, select a new output folder on healthy local storage outside the synchronised backup location and click Next to save. Review successful saves on the final page and open the recovered designs in their original applications. Inspect fonts, linked images, and page layouts before treating the artwork as ready for publication.
Recover laboratory tables after faulty RAM corrupts an archive.
Question: A memory test found a defective RAM module shortly after I created a laboratory-results archive with WinRAR 6.24 on my Windows 10 22H2 desktop. I replaced the module, and the computer is stable, but several CSV tables in the .rar file still fail CRC checks during extraction. I kept the archive on a healthy drive because the original measurements are no longer on this computer. How can I open a damaged RAR file and retrieve any tables that escaped the memory errors?
Answer: Try opening the damaged RAR file with Recovery Toolbox for RAR to extract any surviving tables from the existing archive. Faulty RAM may have changed bytes during compression or writing, and replacing the module does not correct data already saved incorrectly. On your now-stable Windows computer, download, install, and launch the utility. Select a working copy of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, select only blue-marked files and folders, or click Check good. Use the full, licensed version to choose a new output folder on healthy storage, then press Next to save the selected tables. Review successful saves on the final page and open the recovered CSV files. Compare their columns, row counts, and measurement ranges with available instrument logs before using them for scientific analysis.
Extract development assets archived with an unstable CPU overclock
Question: I archived game development assets with WinRAR 6.23 on my Windows 11 24H2 desktop while testing a CPU overclock. Later stress tests found calculation errors, and the .rar file still produces CRC failures after I restored the processor to tested, stable default settings. I removed the working folder after archiving, so the surviving textures and source files matter, and some of the project is confidential. Can I fix a RAR file online, or is there a way to attempt recovery locally on this computer?
Answer: Rather than trying to fix a RAR file online, you can assess the confidential assets locally with Recovery Toolbox for RAR. An unstable CPU overclock can introduce compression errors, and restoring stable settings cannot correct archive blocks already written with bad data. Preserve the archive, then download, install, and launch the utility on a tested, stable Windows desktop. On the first page, choose a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file and start automatic analysis. In the preview, select only files and folders marked in blue, or use Check good. With the full, licensed version, specify a new output folder on healthy storage and click Next to save the selected assets. Review successful saves on the final page. Load textures in an image editor and inspect or compile recovered source files in your development tools before continuing work on the project.
Recover spreadsheets archived with unstable memory settings.
Question: I enabled an aggressive memory profile on my Windows 11 23H2 desktop before archiving bookkeeping spreadsheets with WinRAR 6.24. Memory tests later reported errors at those settings, so I returned the RAM to a tested, stable configuration, but the .rar archive still stops during extraction with CRC failures. I no longer have every original workbook and have preserved the damaged archive on a healthy drive. How can I fix a RAR file created under unstable memory settings and recover usable spreadsheets?
Answer: To fix a RAR file created while RAM settings were unstable, first keep the computer at its tested, reliable configuration. Incorrect timings or voltage can introduce processing errors without a permanently defective memory module, leaving some compressed workbook data unusable. Preserve the original archive and download, install, and launch Recovery Toolbox for RAR on Windows. Select a working duplicate of the damaged .rar file on the first page and start automatic analysis. In the preview, choose only blue-marked files and folders, or click Check good. With the full, licensed version, choose a new destination folder on healthy storage and press Next to save your selections. Review successful saves on the final page and open the recovered spreadsheets to check their formulas, totals, and worksheets against available statements. The result is a set of extracted files; changing the memory configuration does not restore bytes previously written incorrectly.
Recover database files after a storage controller fault.
Question: I packed several Access databases into a .rar archive with WinRAR 6.24 on my Windows 10 22H2 desktop just before the storage controller began resetting. My incident report says: “Error while inflating RAR file: Database and data store files were not successfully extracted from RAR file. Error inflating oversubscribed dynamic bit lengths tree.” A technician has stabilised the controller, but normal extraction still fails; how can I repair corrupted RAR files and retrieve any usable databases from this copy?
Answer: To repair corrupted RAR files after a controller fault, first move the recovery attempt to a stable storage path and preserve the available archive. Interrupted or incorrect writes can damage compressed blocks even when the file list remains readable. Download Recovery Toolbox for RAR, install it on a healthy Windows computer, and launch it. On the first page, select a working copy of the damaged .rar file and start automatic analysis. Preview the results and select only blue-marked files or folders, or use Check good. In the licensed full version, choose a new destination folder on healthy storage and click Next to save the selected files. Review the extraction successes on the final page, then open each recovered database and check its tables and records. The program extracts surviving content; it cannot restore database bytes that the controller failed to write correctly.

Recovery Toolbox is an excellent tool
In my case problem not solved. 24hrs only few MB recovered. Very slow I feel. I am not saying ie software bad.....
too slowly
Excelente recuperador de archivos.
Gracias por su talento
nice app, very useful, 2 MB per hour recovery speed its amazing
It recovered my video as much as possible. I think the main goal of this software is to recover to the fullest extent and at least allow the disc-reader to read through the whole file. This is not some magic tool and parts that are too damaged will be replaced with grey color(not fully). It took me incredibly long for 1 GB file(about 2 days) where only about 30-40 seconds were damaged(I was really impressed by the speed of going through not damaged parts-even my reader couldnt read that fast; 90% of the time has gone to recovering that seconds). Overall, I'm happy with the results as I didnt care about the damaged parts, my main goal was to download the file which I couldnt do before. It's the only software I've tried so I cant really tell how good this software has done compared to others
A wonderful program, I already lost all hope to restore the archive, but this utility saved me
best solution
I need full version of this app because after completation it says you cant save a recovered files in demo mode
Not free.
Software helped me in case corruption of huge .rar archives. I applied first time and it completely get back the information.
Tech support could be better.
Very simple. Very Effective!
I'm very happy with investing in this product even if I only use it as a one off. I was very skeptical that this product would not solve the corruption issues I was facing. Like majic the files are fixed to a very good standard. Extremely pleased with the simplicity and effectiveness. 5 Stars from me.
I downloaded this utility to try to fix a corrupt RAR file. Yes, it was a large RAR file, but this program ran and ran for about 5 days and nights steadily... I finally had a list of good files.
